The 6-step improvement plan

We understand that not everyone has the time and resources for a Do-It-Yourself approach to innius and conducting the improvements that it can allow. In which case, Innius’ Consultancy service offers a solution. This follows a start small, and scale-up approach with a 6-step improvement plan which can be followed repeatedly with new objectives each time. This is based upon the Lean Six Sigma improvement method.

Define Objectives

Innius’ consultancy staff can help you to define high level improvement goals, based on either increased productivity, better quality, energy efficiency, smart maintenance, or reduced waste. This will probably include mapping the production process if this doesn’t already exist. It is important to start with a straight-forward goal, which can easily be measured.

Feasibility study

As outlined on the Getting Started page, Innius Consultancy also offers a Feasibility Study. This can either form the second step of the 6-step consultancy plan or be conducted on its own. The feasibility study takes about 2 days and results in a report outlining which data points are required to achieve the agreed goals, and the technical feasibility of connecting these to the innius platform.

Technical Implementation

Following on from the conclusions in the Feasibility Study, our technical consultant can connect the required data points to the innius platform. The connection and subsequent configuration within the innius apps can be measured in hours. Immediately data can be received providing a baseline measurement for the following steps.

Consultancy Report & Presentation

Based on the high-level goals agreed in Step I, Innius Consultancy presents possible objectives for a Lean Six Sigma cycle to be followed in the next step. This is conducted in the form of a report and presentation to stimulate discussion. One or two of these objectives can then be agreed upon and specifically defined for the Lean Six Sigma cycle.

Lean Six Sigma Improvement

Innius Consultancy takes the lead in analyzing the data gathered within the innius platform, whether it be directly from the machine, virtual sensors, manual sensors, or other sources. This is used to decide how process improvements can be made. Once the improvements have been made, conditions are configured within the innius platform to safeguard them. To put it another way, these are the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control (DMAIC) steps associated with the Lean Six Sigma approach.

Continuous Improvement

With the Lean Six Sigma process completed, a report is presented outlining how the objectives have been achieved and proposing the objectives for the next Lean Six Sigma cycle. This could be a new set of objectives aimed at the original goal or replicating the process on other production lines.
